Hong Kong SAR, 16th of January 2018 - The Board of Directors of IPG are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter Wright as the non-executive Chairman of the IPG Group of companies. Mr. Wright first joined IPG as a founding member of the Group’s non-executive Advisory Board in 2014.
His appointment to the Board is effective from the 1st of December 2017.
Mr. Alan Conder, Managing Director of IPG said, “Mr. Wright’s extensive and long standing experience as a leader in the payment industry makes him the ideal person to take over as Chairman of IPG. We are delighted that he has agreed to deepen his involvement with IPG at such an important growth stage for our Company”
Mr. Wright said, “IPG is at an exciting stage of its evolution and I’m pleased to be joining an industry leader in eCommerce payments as its Chairman. We see enormous opportunity, together with our partners, to further grow and expand our reach into Asia Pacific whilst remaining focused on our core European business”
Mr Wright has held senior positions in the Payments Industries for 30 years working extensively across Asia Pacific, Europe and the USA. He spent 6 years as 2IC for a leading Australian payments company and 14 years with First Data Corporation where he held IT, Business Development, Sales and M&A roles prior to being appointed Managing Director of Australia and New Zealand in 2006. He also worked as an Advisor to the President of First Data International in Europe during 2008.
From 2009 until 2016 Mr Wright served as President of Asia Pacific for OmniPay Ltd. He continues to work as a consultant to industry and also serves as a non-executive Director of Mint Payments (ASX: MNW)
Mr Wright holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Management from the University of New South Wales and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from New England University. He has three adult children and lives in Sydney, Australia.
